Meet the Shepherd’s Pie guy
Forty years, one dish, and a kitchen full of memories
This isn’t just about our favourite comfort food, It’s family and
friends around the table, talking, laughing, sharing the day
I first ate Shepherd’s Pie at around 5 years old in our school
canteen, back when schools served proper home cooked meals. It felt
like a hug in a dish, warm and comforting, I was immediately
smitten.
Since learning to cook, I have spent more than forty years creating
and cooking different versions of this wonderful dish, sharing it
with everyone I love. I have great memories over the years of family
and friends eating Shepherd’s Pies made at home, lots of different
recipes, but always the same result, happy faces.
In more recent times, it seems that people have stopped eating
together — phones out, telly on, everyone elsewhere. They have lost
this cherished time together, not realising how damaging this is to
our family culture. The importance of shared family mealtimes cannot
be understated. We need to bring family and friends back to the
table.
It’s time to ‘Disconnect to Reconnect’. So, pull up a chair and
let’s cook!
